CFM New England Patriots One Day Camp

On June 5, 2004, PlaySmart participated for the second year in a world-class football camp in Hartford, CT. The camp was conducted by the CFM Foundation (www.cfmfoundation.com), which is run by Eric Mangini, Defensive Backs Coach for the New England Patriots. The camp lasted from 9am until 4pm. The kids had a great day, learning about football and also about life. There were many celebrities in attendance, helping to coach the kids. In total there were nearly 500 kids at the camp.

PlaySmart was represented by Director Rick Kahn. Rick served as an official coach for the day helping out with various drills and coaching a group of kids during the 7-on-7 scrimmages. This year PlaySmart offered all campers a chance at a scholarship to the Offense-Defense Football Camp at Bryant College in Rhode Island. Each child received an application for the 15 scholarships that PlaySmart will reward to deserving kids. All of the kids had a great day and enjoyed meeting some of the New England Patriots players, including Tebucky Jones (formerly with the Patriots and now with the New Orleans Saints) and coaches Bill Billichick, Bryan Cox, Charlie Weiss and Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis to name a few. Overall it was a great day! The kids learned something about football and also some important lessons about life from their role models. We look forward to further developing our relationship with CFM and the New England Patriots in the future!
