STRAIGHTEN YOUR SLICE GOLF BENEFIT In late October, PlaySmart continued its New York activities with a big fundraiser held at Chelsea Piers Driving Range on the banks of the Hudson River. 150 people joined PlaySmart's Board members for a night of golfing, with instruction by professional golfers, followed by a silent auction and heavy hors d'oeuvres. Fun was had by all. Special guests in attendance were several players from the New York Football Giants, including Jason Garrett (Quarterback), Amani Toomer (Wide Receiver), Luke Petitgout (Offensive Tackle) and Keith Elias (former Running Back, New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts). All guests had a great time and enjoyed several golf contests, including "long drive" and "closest to the pin." Thanks to the hard work of New York-based PlaySmart board members Rick Kahn and Kevin Kavanagh, the night was a huge success. In total PlaySmart raised a net of $10,000 during the course of the evening, a large percentage of which came through the silent auction which included a trip to New Orleans, gift certificates, professional sports memorabilia (autographed footballs, jerseys, etc.) and other great items. The first annual "Straighten Your Slice" event was a huge success. PlaySmart intends to hold the "2nd Annual" event next October. We hope you can join us!
