| ROBIN VENTURA BOWLING CLASSIC In November, 2001, PlaySmart partnered with the Robin Ventura Bowling Classic at Chelsea Piers (http://www.chelseapiers.com) in New York City. This event, attended by many current and former New York area professional baseball players (Mike Piazza, Al Leiter, Chuck Knoblauch, Bobby Bonilla), as well as several New York Jets football players, was a huge success! PlaySmart's own Rick Kahn was on hand to assist with running the event as well as to bowl with the kids. A total of fifty kids participated in this once-in-a-lifetime event. PlaySmart helped fund the event as well as assisted with the event's operations. In addition to giving under-privileged kids an exciting day on the bowling lanes with high-profile celebrities, we were were able to donate funds to the Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund. This funding will directly benefit children affected by the September 11th tragedy. We look forward to hosting more events at Chelsea Piers in the future. We're also hoping to expand our activities with New York-based sports teams. |
