| Jim Haslett Charity Dinner On April 2, 2002, in New Orleans, Louisiana, New Orleans Saints Head Coach, Jim Haslett, hosted the annual Jim Haslett Charity Dinner. Coach Haslett selected PlaySmart as the recipient of the proceeds from the evening, making this PlaySmart's largest ever fundraising event! The evening was filled with fun for everyone involved. Activities included a silent auction, remarks from Coach Haslett, Joe Baker (Saints Coach and PlaySmart Vice President), and Derek Leathers (also a PlaySmart Vice President). The dinner, which was held at the Windsor Court, was a scrumptious gourmet cajun meal. The silent auction provided great fun and excitement. Items in the auction included a 3-night stay for 2 at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay (California), including roundtrip airfare (courtesy of Delta Air Lines) and rounds of golf at nearby Olympic Club, autographed Saints jerseys, helmets, footballs, as well as an autographed football from Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady of the Patriots. In total, there was greater than 30 items in the auction! The evening’s Master of Ceremonies, Paul Maguire, a top NFL analyst for ESPN, entertained the crowd as expected. Several players from the New Orleans Saints as well as other professional football players and celebrities were also on hand. PlaySmart wishes to thank Coach Haslett for his commitment to and belief in our organization. We’d also like to thank Joe and Jill Baker, and their colleagues in New Orleans. Together, your tireless efforts and hard work made this the most successful event PlaySmart has ever been a part of! Go Saints! Thank you all! |
