FELLOWSHIP FOUNDATION 11th ANNUAL “YOUTH CONNECTION WEEKEND”

PlaySmart’s first event was the Fellowship Foundation was a resounding success! PlaySmart assisted with the development, delivery and funding of the 11th Annual Black History Month Youth Connection Weekend. In February, 2001, we took 60 at-risk young men (grades 6-12) from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Atlanta, Georgia, where they were joined by other students from Atlanta and Tuskegee, Alabama. They visited Atlanta area colleges and toured local historical sites. The New Orleans students also got to know kids from other cities. They produced a talent show with students from Atlanta and Tuskegee, and attended a banquet, during which high school seniors from each school were recognized for their achievements. The trip was a reward for members of the Fellowship Boys organization who must maintain a 2.5 GPA or better to remain in the program.

PlaySmart is excited to be partnering with the Fellowship Foundation again in 2002. Its an outstanding organization led by an outstanding individual, Charles Alexander. We’re proud to be a part of their success.
